All of us on the Running for Rare Diseases Marathon Team Board are getting really excited about the new season. For weeks now we have been pouring over the applications of all the runners who want to join us for the 2015 season. And there is more interest than ever before! This is exactly what we wanted: to expand our team so we can expand our community, increase employee engagement within Genzyme/Sanofi, increase awareness of rare diseases, raise more funds for the Genzyme/NORD NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program (UDP) and connect with more people with rare diseases. To do this, we are now having team members running the Providence Marathon and Half Marathon, as well as the Boston Marathon (see Phil’s previous post for details). With this much larger team, which we hope to announce very soon, we will need many more patient partners. So if you are a rare disease patient and would like to be involved with our marathon team, please complete our Patient Partner Interest Form by Dec. 7. Many have asked if you need to live locally. The answer is no. What really matters to us is that you want to be involved – whether in person or remotely – and that you share our passion for helping people with rare diseases and expanding our rare disease community!
